Muddy Bottom sits in the grounds of Minstead Manor in the heart of the beautiful New Forest in Hampshire. Its is very easily accessible from Junction 1 of the M27 heading towards Lyndhurst. Being in the New Forest, we have people from all over the country visiting Muddy Bottom off-road. We are family orientated club who like yourselves love off-roading. Our team of very knowledgeable and approachable marshals are always on hand to help and guide you in the right direction.

The site is a good size, with a massive range of terrain to suit everyone from a beginner to the extreme off-roaders. Muddy Bottom has bomb holes, clay holes, river and ford crossings.

There are good toilet facilities, a safe zone for children with many ride of toys to keep the kiddies entertained, within this area there is picnic tables, catering trailer offering hot food & hot/cold drinks. You are very welcome to bring picnics but we do ask that these are consumed ONLY within the picnic area and not on the actual off-road course.

From our well equipped workshop in Cadnam, Southampton, we offer a full maintenance service using genuine Land Rover or OE parts and following Land Rover recommendations for all servicing


Where are we?

Just off Junction 1 of the M27, head towards Lyndhurst, take the 3rd turning on your right (Muddy Bottom sign on main road), over the cattle grid, then take 2nd gravel track on the right (signposted MUDDY BOTTOM)


When are we open?

On the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month, 12 months a year – but please check prior to attending any of our events.  We do have a facebook page muddybottom pay & play site which always has our dates on there.


Vehicle requirements

  • All vehicles MUST have front and rear recovery points.
  • If vehicles are equipped with seat belts, they MUST be worn at all times.
  • Any children MUST be in the correct car seat / booster seat etc.

STEEL WINCH ROPES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED !!All recoveries must be carried out using a strop or a synthetic rope (available to buy from Goodwinch)

You are very welcome to bring non-mot’d vehicles to Muddy Bottom but please ensure they have front and rear recovery points fitted.


How much does it cost?

£20 entry fee (vehicles) – £20 entry (Quads – 4 stroke ONLY PERMITTED)

£5 for extra drivers in the same vehicle,

£2 for passengers or spectators,

£1 day membership.


Safety Information


Please DO NOT throw rubbish on the land, livestock use the land and this can be very dangerous for them if they consume litter, sometimes fatal



You do not have to be equipped with a winch, however the back area is for winch equipped vehicles ONLY, there are signs stating which areas require winches.

Winch Blankets

MUST be used at all times when using the winch.  Winch Blankets protect spectators should the rope snap, it forces the rope / winch line to the ground rather than flying through the air.

Winch Gloves

MUST be used if you are using a wire winch cable


Speed Limit

There is a speed limit of 10 mph whilst at Muddy Bottom off-road.

We do have a hose available for use to clean vehicles, but please be considerate others,

only number plates, wheels and windows are to be cleaned, we

children-allowedChildren are very welcome at Muddy Bottom, but please ensure that they are supervised at ALL times, they must NOT be left in the childrens area alone at any time.  Children must NOT be allowed to walk across the land alone.
